In these difficult times, our meetings are particularly helpful to newcomers as well asto fellows who have come back after a relapse. Many fellows say that it is the perfect way to start the day. Since the first days, our meetings have run smoothly and peacefully. On Fridays, fellows are invited to stay after the meeting for a “zoom café”, allowing for a more informal exchange and camaraderie among attendees. The share time is limited to make sure that all have a chance to share. We meditate for 15 minutes and read the Daily Reflection. Our meetings are closed to those who have a desire to stop drinking. What the Daily Meditation Meetings are like now: We are a meditation group that runs meetings 7 days a week, from 7:00 to 8:00am CET. ![]() That worked for a few weeks, but this was soon extended to allow more service positions. ![]() We started with one chairperson and two hosts. The meditation time was extended to 15 minutes, it was decided that the chosen topic would be the AA Daily Reflection, and at some point, we decided to limit the time of shares. The first meetings were followed by a few group consciences during which fellows expressed their needs and concerns. Based upon the availability and wishes of the fellows who were attending these meetings, the time was changed to 7:00am daily. After about three weeks of being online, two fellows had the same idea: increase the number of morning meditation meetings to five meetings a week, Monday to Friday.īy the end of the week, we realized that it could go on over the weekend, too and the Daily Meditation Meetings were born. Attendance was immediately up to about 10 fellows. ![]() What happened is that the Covid lockdown forced all the Geneva-based meetings to go on Zoom, including the meditation meeting. Attendance was very low-sometimes only the key holder showed up-but a few very committed fellows kept the meeting alive. Fellows got together every Friday morning at 7:30am for a one-hour meeting, starting with 10 minutes of meditation followed by a reading of the chair’s choice. There used to be a Geneva-based meditation meeting. What one meeting used to be like, what happened, and what the Daily Meditation Meetings are like now.
